Biomass Integrated Energy System-BIES: Smaller Power generating Systems in the 5-200kW range are likely to be most effective in mitigating the effects of climate Change on marginal farmers, farm labourers who have poor capacity to adapt to these. This is particularly so if these run on Renewable Technologies like Biomass derived from Agricultural or Forest Residue from Sustainable forest, wind or solar. All these need to be developed to make them affordable by technological innovations. IPR- Intellectual Property Rights in this field needs to be built up if we wish to create a meaningful solution. One such patent has been filed by Banyan for utilising waste heat from such smaller systems for cooking applications in community or space /process heating.
